Main event day 1

Yesterday was my starting day for the WSOP main event. All things considered it was a fairly smooth day. We played five 2 hour levels that started at noon and ended around 1:30 am. I ended the day with 57,150 chips which I am very satisfied with.

I came into the day with the exact same game plan I have used the past several years. Use the gradual structure to play small pot poker, and only play big pots when I was sure I had the best hand. I had a good table draw with the two players I considered to be a threat both immediately to my right.  There were a few straight forward players and two solid players as well. The first 3 levels I picked up some big hands and was able to get up to nearly 70k. I was knocked down to 58k shortly after dinner break when I played QQ about as bad as I could play it, and let 1010 get there on the river, then pay him off. Other than that hand I was happy with the way I played all day. I'm excited about having 2 days off then getting back into it on Wednesday when I play day 2.

5 of my wsop roommates played the main event, and 4 made it though to day 2. All are UB players, Gator93, v00d00chile, and kinglouie all have decent stacks going into day 2. So the house is in good spirits and ready to put some food on the bbq and sit by the pool for some R & R.
