It's Aruba Time again
I have been going every year since 2003 and I must say it does get better every year, last year being the best. Phil's party rocked, it was fun doing the seminars and there were even tryouts for the Best Damn Poker Show and daily meetings with the new owners of UB as they really wanted our input. Its fun to be associated with a group of people whom really care about making things much better. I got to meet Scott Ian and his girlfriend Pearl Aday. They rocked Phil's party one night and did the same at the closing party.
Its great getting to see many of the old friends in such a fun atmosphere and meet new friends that you often play online with, and the nightlife in Aruba is really fun. According to Matt Savage after day one the other tourney days will end earlier and everyone will get to enjoy the nightlife Aruba has to offer. Maybe the best part for me will be beating Poker Ho in our usual last longer bet or Chinese Poker in Phil's suite.
There will be lots of drinking and partying out on the the outside bar, so I am now resting my liver for that, It's kinda hard to do well in a tourney that you know if you get knocked out you will still have a blast. I have finished 13th a few years ago and was chip leader with 13 left, and first place then paid one million dollars just like this year will be. Part of last year was filmed for the travel channel and and they did a great job on showing people Aruba and the Aruba Classic itself. They even filmed a small sit and go which Debo got 3rd , I took 2nd and Phil Hellmuth won.
I have been really working hard on my game and love my chances, It's rare to play for this type of money without the field being full of professionals. Many of the pros will be in Europe playing the WSOPE which makes Aruba an ever better tourney to play for your money.
I can't wait to see all the work from behind the scenes with Jo Ann, Will, Victor and Spindler. The main reason I love UB is it is like a family to me we all have passion for working and making UB as good as possible.
